Last Wednesday, I sat down to write my list for the year.
Every year, I wake up after the list-making with a single page, filled up with things to do in the coming months.
But this year, I didn't wake up to a page. I woke up to three.
Maybe it was the inspiration of knowing I get to share this journey with you. Maybe it was that 16 is my favorite number. Maybe it was the sure-as-stone sense that I only get this one life. Maybe it was the Colombian Aguardiente, a local liquor that tastes like black licorice got in a fight with a plastic bag - and won.
Probably it was all of those things.
But when I see this three-page list of my 2016, it lays something powerful out in front of me: this is going to be hard. And this is going to be the best year of my life, yet.
This year will find me living in Rwanda, Colombia, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and New Zealand.
If my list is any indicator, it will also find me skydiving, giving a TED talk, publishing a book, and singing in public. (Secret disclosure? I have no idea how to do any of those things, and they all terrify me.)
Because we're in this together, I want you to come along too.
Make 2016 the best year of your life, yet.
Let's do the hard stuff, improve who we are as people, take risks, love and live fiercely. Dive headfirst into the world, whole-hearted, and see what we find.
It won't be easy, but it will be amazing, transformative, and wonderful.
And when we look back at the end of 2016, we'll be able to say, "My god. We did it."
You in? :)
-Steven
p.s. The best thing I saw all week was totally in the spirit of crazy lists and amazing years. An interview with this guy, who traveled to every country on Earth - without flying.
