Well, I officially started my year doing Ink and Feet full-time this week, and it was eye-opening, shocking and hilarious. :)
It feels a bit like starting to restore and reinvigorate an old, abandoned home that I've been shuffling in and out of for the past three years, but not really living there full-time. The first thing I did was replace all the burnt out light-bulbs and immediately make this face 😳.
Ideas were scattered all around, nobody had been doing any strategic planning, and half-finished projects and things I was supposed to reply to were everywhere.
It might be a fine way to run a vacation home, but no way to live - so as 2020 has kicked off, I've rolled up my sleeves and gotten to work.
I've organized projects into piles, dusted off the records, made lists of the things that have needed done for months.
And it feels - great.
Yes, things are a mess, and yes, with the lights on, I'm not 100% sure where I'm going to do in the coming months or year. Heck, I don't even know where I'm going to live in February, much less March.
But I am spending my days - from sunrise until way after dark - on the things I love. The things I've always wanted to spend my only life doing.
And so every moment - even the bookkeeping - feels like joy. :)
I absolutely cannot wait to see what this year brings, and what I get to share with you as we go through it.
But today, I'm just loving a good, deep clean. :)
I wonder - have you ever had a deep clean like this one? Did you love it too?
Have a sparkling week,
-Steven
p.s. The best thing I saw this week was absolutely this short documentary about a rural German designer who refuses to make new for new's sake. Maybe it'll inspire you too. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6SB9e-s1QE
