A Goodbye to Medellín

It's sadly time for me to say another goodbye to Colombia, step on a plane, and find a new home somewhere different.

The goodbyes that punctuate this life I live are funny things.

I cry every single time I leave somewhere I love.

And then, somewhere on that next flight, looking down at the world, I'll feel a sense of grounding. That no matter how far I might go from that place I love, I'm still on Earth. And that place I've left is still just over there - like I could feel it through my feet if I really tried.

It will help.

But as I sit here, my eyes passing over each brick in the buildings spread out in front of me one more time, the hillsides and birds and aguacate vendors, all I can really feel is how special this place is, how lucky I am to get to come here, and how glad I am to get to share it with you.

It is a beautiful, wonderful planet we get to live on together.

Thanks for sharing a sky with me.

p.s. The best thing I read all week was this thought-provoking interview with a guy who makes a full-time living in the "gig economy." It left me with more questions than answers, but not in the way I'd expected.
