My World is a Little Different

Every once in a while, you'll see me reference conversations with the guys (pictured) in these pieces.

This probably seems like fanciful metaphor to a lot of you, except those that know me best. It's not. My world likely differs from yours in one very fundamental way: in my world, in the only reality I've ever known since I was a small kid, everything is alive. And I mean everything. The countertop. The refrigerator. The bed. The floor. The window. The forks and the plates. The mugs, especially the mugs. The morning chorus of choice is indescribable. And the earth, yes. Huge, humming, there like gravity and just as unavoidable.

When I talk about the guys saying, "seriously, go take a shower," that is a very real and meaningful interaction. Those who got to spend time with Tomo know that he often said things that surprised everyone in the room, including me.

This is the world I live in. Everything is alive. Everything has a voice. It is strange and it is wonderful.

The only difficult thing is knowing where to listen.
